"After activation, this card becomes an Equip Card that increases the DEF of the equipped monster by 1000, and you equip it to 1 'Inzektor' monster you control" is the effect processed when the card "Inzektor Gauntlet" is activated. (This effect targets 1 "Inzektor" monster in your Monster Zone.)
The "increases the DEF by 1000" effect is an effect applied to the equipped monster.
If you activate the card "Inzektor Gauntlet" during the Damage Step, you must do so from the start of the Damage Step up to before damage calculation.
The "the equipped monster cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects" effect does not create a Chain Link. (It is an effect applied to the equipped monster.)
