If a face-up Xyz Monster is on the field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in face-up Defense Position.
The monster effect of "Photon Slayer" is not classified as an Ignition Effect, Trigger Effect, Quick Effect, or Continuous Effect.
A Chain Link is not built when performing a Special Summon via the monster effect of "Photon Slayer".
If an Xyz Monster is face-up in your or your opponent's Monster Zone, you can Special Summon "Photon Slayer" with its own monster effect. (If the only Xyz Monsters in the Monster Zones are in face-down Defense Position, you cannot Special Summon it this way.)
"Photon Slayer" is a Normal Summon monster. (Even if it has been sent to the Graveyard from the hand or Deck, you can Special Summon it with the effect of "Monster Reborn".)
